Automated Cleaning Project for Tire Vulcanization Molds
Project Background
A major tire manufacturer operates multiple production lines where tire vulcanization molds are subjected to prolonged high‑temperature conditions, leading to the accumulation of substantial rubber carbon deposits, adhesive residues, and oxide layers on the tread blocks and mold cavity surfaces. Conventional sandblasting cleaning can easily damage the molds’ intricate patterns, while manual disassembly and cleaning is time‑consuming, resulting in extended downtime. Chemical cleaning, meanwhile, raises environmental compliance concerns. There is an urgent need for a fully automated laser cleaning workstation to replace the existing maintenance and repair processes.
Device Configuration
The Horizon Laser Technology tire‑mold‑specific dual‑station laser cleaning workstation features a dual 3D vision system and a same‑side, dual‑station configuration, paired with a proprietary galvanometer‑based flying‑beam cleaning module and a sealed dust‑extraction and collection system. The entire production line can be integrated with laser welding and laser marking modules, enabling seamless, end‑to‑end operations for mold cleaning, defect repair, and mold‑number traceability.

Craftsmanship effect
3D visual automatic scanning and modeling—no need to call up mold‑recipe files; it automatically generates cleaning paths, enabling fully automated robotic operation.

A flat‑top pulsed laser beam selectively removes carbon deposits, adhesive residues, and oxide layers without damaging the mold substrate or compromising its original precision patterns.
Our proprietary galvanometer‑based flying‑beam cleaning algorithm boosts efficiency by 40% compared to conventional laser cleaning; dual‑station alternating operation enables simultaneous loading/unloading and cleaning, significantly reducing mold maintenance downtime.
Enclosed chamber plus vacuum extraction system for centralized collection of smoke and particulate pollutants; no chemical agents used, environmentally friendly, and compliant with factory environmental impact assessment requirements.

Customer Value
Mold maintenance downtime has been reduced by 60%, minimizing production line shutdown losses.
Eliminate mold damage caused by sandblasting, extend mold service life, and reduce the cost of purchasing new molds.
Reduce reliance on manual labor and lower hazardous waste disposal costs.
After cleaning, the occurrence of flash and rubber shortages in molded tire products has been significantly reduced, leading to a marked improvement in the finished‑product yield.
